Prayers and Bhajans

Preliminary Prayers
Weekly bhajans whih could be chanted regularly with reference to the day of the week, ofcourse we do have very many for each. But some constant chanting is selectively being presented. Prior to starting yoga it is essential to start the effort by chanting Aum. We chant 6 times to settle down peacefully for the effort. The ideal way of chanting is to split Aum into three syllables , aaaa, oh and im.It is also the routine to chant a sloka of Ganesha and bhajans related to that day's deity for example: Mondays: Shiva, Tuesday: Subramanya and Anjenya, Wednesday and Saturdays: Mahavishnu OR Krishna, Thursdays: Guru and Fridays: Devi and Sundays either Ganesha or Rama alternative weeks. The following are the parayers chanted daily initially before the Asanas.
Vinayaka Stuthi
Mooshika Vagana Modaha Hastha,
Chamara Karna, Vilambitha Soothra,
Vaamana Roopa Maheshwara Putra,
Vigna Vinashaka Paada Namaste.
Guru Stuthi

Sri Guru Charanam, Mama Saranam,
Sat Guru Charanama, Mama Sharanam,
Jagat Guru Charanama, Mama Saranam.
Gayathri Mantram
Following this, the bhajans in praise of the day's particular deity as mentioned below are sung.
Subsequent to this Gayathri Mantram is chanted 6 times and repeated by all 6 times( On the whole 12 times). Affter completion of this , Aum is tobe chanted 3 times.

Om Saha Naavavatu
Sahnav Phunakthu,
Sahveeryam karavaa vahai,
Tejasvinaa vaheeta mashthu,

Aum Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi.
End of the Prayer
At the end we offer our prayers by praying for the country, for the world entire, for the lost, living, suffering people and also for anything in particular in the larger interest of humanity.
It is customary to use both the hands for timings and tala by clapping together keeping the trend of the raga and the tala of the bhajan. This is very essential in the sense it carries a deep inner meaning. The hands left and right can be identified as I and Mine, the componenets of human existence mainly egoism and possessiveness.By bringing the hands together and taking them off for clapping we are only requesting the God and also trying to practice to get away from these ( meaning let them go from me).
